The Last Dose
3 weeks of 3x daily antiobiotics is coming to a close this evening. The odd number of pills left (three, when it's 2 pill per dose) is testament to the difficulty of coaxing a dog to eat two gigantic pills every 8 hours. A dog, mind you, that was nauseous and disinterested in food for the first week. The food being relevant because it was the only thing that would prevent her from vomiting the antibiotics, rendering them somewhat useless. We have that extra pill because it's friend disintegrated somewhere along the line while trying to force feed a pill. Force feeding pills to Sonar is a lost cause. She's more likely to eat the peanut butter cocktail of pills because you want her too, and act like it's DELICIOUS! I JUST HAD SOME! TRY IT! WOW!
You have to use copious peanut butter too. This dog could find cocaine hidden in car bumpers. She knows the pills are in there, she just humors you by eating it.
Now I can stop obsessing: 7am-3pm-11pm, 9am-5pm-1am, 6am-2pm-10pm...and OH MY GOD WHAT CAN I MIX IN THE DOG FOOD TO MAKE HER EAT IT?!
Things I've mixed in dog food:
Eggs
Tuna
Chicken
Baked Chicken
Macaroni Noodles
Peas
Rice, Rice
Cheese
Milk
Chicken Broth
Chicken Noodle Soup, cold
Chicken Noodle Soup, heated (for mornings, when she's not hungry but has to eat.)
This post is wildly boring, but this damned antibiotic has defined me for 3 weeks.
Sonar's doing great. More on that later.
